Extending Opportunity and Capability

The quotation “all men are created equal” is part of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, which Thomas Jefferson penned in 1776 during the beginning of the American Revolution.

The 1996 Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, more specifically the Chapter 2 Bill of Rights, Clause 9.(1) under ‘Equality’ states “Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law.”

The sad reality, however, is that although everyone should have equal opportunity, access thereto is not equal.  Once granted access thereto however, realisation thereof in terms of outcome depends on the individual and his individual effort, rightly so.

OcProt feels that there are however certain aspects, products, services and facilities (typically including protection to name just one) with regards which the obstacles to access should be reduced and that is, amongst other services, where OcProt wishes to be of value to the consumer.
